MTDL supports our community
Besides cleaning for our regular MTDL customers, we provide short-term support for families in need through the Salvation Army Community Ministries. Some of our Gurus provide this work as volunteers. We’ve been working for several years now with Tammy Birch who links us up with local families to help with cleaning, decluttering, packing and occasionally entertaining new babies! Without further ado, please read Tammy’s message below.
I am a Social Worker with The Salvation Army based in Glenfield. As well as social work, we offer financial mentoring, counselling, a Positive Lifestyle Programme, and a food bank.
A lot of families on the North Shore are experiencing significant mental health challenges which impact parents’ ability to attend to the everyday chores of running a household. These challenges result from a number of life challenges including but certainly not limited to drug and alcohol, trauma, and family harm.
I’ve called on My To Do List Gurus in various capacities to assist families in the short term. This helps ensure the home front is attended too which relieves stress and frees the parent up to focus on their own well-being.
I know the families are very grateful to My To Do List and The Salvation Army for this very practical short-term assistance.
